Project: Review of the Coastal Zone Management Plan (POOC) Ovar – Marinha Grande

On 15 March, the second day of the Congress of the Aveiro Region, the Assistant Secretary of State for Economy and Regional Development, Henriques Almeida, announced the launch of "the largest investment package ever in coastline protection" with Community funding in the amount of 106 million euros. Altogether ten investment projects will be financed aiming at combating coastal erosion.

Project: Review of the Coastal Zone Management Plan (POOC) Ovar - Marinha Grande

During the next decade, the coastline needs about 30 million euros headed to works of protection. This was the estimation left on the first day of the Congress of the Aveiro Region by Sérgio Barroso, technical coordinator of the team in charge of the review of the Coastal Zone Management Plan (POOC) Ovar - Marinha Grande. The financing of these works will be among the priorities of the next Community Support Framework (2014-20).

Project: Municipal Strategy for the Urban Regeneration of Amadora

According to Joaquim Raposo, mayor of the municipality, the project "Amadora 2025 - Municipal Strategy for Urban Regeneration", which is going to be introduced later this year, is "a plan that considers an integrated view on the municipality and that points out intervention areas". Thus, in his words, "revitalising, structuring, reusing, including and enhancing are the strategic objectives for this plan, which aims at the building regeneration in order to bring up a better city".

Project: Coastal Zone Management Plan for Ovar-Marinha Grande

There are coastal areas, where the sea had already swallowed more than 100 meters of land tending to encroach upon it even further. Little is being done to prevent this situation.

The coastal area between Ovar and Marinha Grande is the largest in the country affected by erosion. There are areas where 120 meters were already swallowed up by the sea and many others that will be submerged in the next 30 years.

Project: Territorial Development Plan for the CENCYL Cities Network

The Quartzo Museum, in Viseu, hosted on Friday the presentation of the Cencyl Project, an initiative that aims to strengthen the assertiveness and competitiveness of the cities involved. Aveiro, Figueira da Foz, Coimbra, Viseu, Guarda, Ciudad Rodrigo, Salamanca and Valladolid want to create synergies aiming at improving life quality and promoting the exchange of experience regarding areas such as urban mobility, urban regeneration, social inclusion and touristic enhancement.

"Regeneration and Urban Sustainability – Innovative and Competitive Cities” – Viseu pilot action

On the 13th and 14th of September, it happened in Viseu a pilot action named “Regeneration and Urban Sustainability – Innovative and Competitive Cities”, within the scope of the CENCYL Cities Network Project, where CEDRU gave a presentation about Benchmarking on Cross-border Cooperation in Cities Networks.
