Project: Study to Address the Needs of the Senior People in Portugal

"To celebrate the International Elderly Day, Doctors of the World – Portugal provides a set of activities headed to the beneficiaries of the project running at Picheleira neighbourhood, named Viver Saudável, as well as to other seniors of this neighbourhood." (...) "The velocity this phenomenon is happening at the national level makes Portugal to appear as one of the most aged countries at the world level (10th position in the ranking regarding seniors percentage), according to the Evaluation Study of the Needs of Senior People in Portugal, 2008, by CEDRU (Centro de Estudos e Desenvolvimento Regional e Urbano) and BCG (Boston Consulting Group) for the Aga Khan Foundation (Portugal)."

Project: Tender of the Municipalities from the Marble Zone to PROVERE

"The Municipality of Borba, in partnership with the other municipalities from the Marble Zone, Alandroal, Vila Viçosa, Estremoz and Sousel, are preparing a tender to PROVERE – Programme for Economic Enhancement of Endogenous Resources. In this sense, it took place on the last June 11, in the Municipality of Borba, a first working meeting with the five municipalities, in order to set the bases of the coordination process." (...) "After the reflexion from the meeting, with the help of CEDRU – Centro de Estudos e Desenvolvimento Regional e Urbano, the tender to PROVERE will be elaborated.

Tomar projected as a central “city of services”

Project: Strategic Plan for the City of Tomar 2015 and Action Plan 2007-2013

"Tomar failed as industrial city but came up as a city of services and this is the quality that must be emphasized in the future", said Sérgio Barroso, member of the Centro de Estudos e Desenvolvimento Regional e Urbano (CEDRU) and the responsible for the presentation of the Strategic Action Plan for Tomar to be accomplished by 2015. The Professor stressed out the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar and the Hospital Nossa Sra. da Graça as examples, referring that "Tomar is nowadays a city in affirmation, recovering its urbanistic, economical, cultural and social leadership, placing itself in a privileged position of a city rendering services for a wide area of the centre of Portugal".

Project: Social Services and Equipments Network of the Cascais Municipality

"The investment of 80 million Euros in 143 new equipments primarily headed to children and senior is the goal of the Social Network of Cascais that the municipality wants to achieve by 2016. Written by the Centro de Estudos e Desenvolvimento Regional Urbano (CEDRU) from research that had began in 2004, the document intends to identify the major social weaknesses of the municipality, diagnose the supply concerning social equipments and services, and set the areas and places for priority investment, providing guidelines for the Master Plan and for the local Social Development Plan."

Project: Educational Network of the Municipality of Barreiro

"Yesterday, in the auditorium of the Municipal Library of Barreiro, it was presented the Preliminary Report of the Educative Network of the Municipality of Barreiro, “a joint approach very close to what the final document will be”, said Luís Carvalho, technician of the Centro de Estudos e Desenvolvimento Regional e Urbano (CEDRU), the entity responsible for the elaboration of the document, which is an instrument for buildings planning and management and educational equipments in the municipality.”
